Whiplash is a "lay term" for the soft tissue damage from car accident injuries. When involved in a car accident, the spine is "whipped" through different planes of movement. This whipping action occurs very suddenly and causes overstretching of the spinal ligaments and musculature that heal with scar tissue if not treated appropriately. Dr. Renfroe has extensive post graduate training in diagnosing and treating whiplash injuries.

Once a determination is made through standard x-rays that there is indication of ligament damage, a DMX is done to obtain a complete picture of the spine to fully diagnose the injury. Some ligament injuries don't show up on plain x-ray, but will on DMX. Once we have a complete diagnosis, a treatment plan is initiated involving chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy and spinal rehabilitation.
